Finally the Herbs comes around to HOB Boston!
Born in New Orleans, raised on the isle of Bermuda with intermittent stays in urban Toronto, Colin Harper is not an easy youth to pin down geographically. His musical alter ego Collie Buddz however, is one of the most firmly grounded voices you may ever encounter. Incorporating influences from hip-hop to soca, Collie’s music nevertheless has a rock-solid foundation in reggae - and its power to connect ghetto reality with the highest heights of human aspiration - that is a rarity even in Jamaica.....Read More
A TRUE EXPERIENCE!
It's been many years in the making and finally Barrington Levy comes to Boston's Legendary Paradise Rock Club.
In the late 1980's, Barrington Levy and created some of reggae's most memorable recordings. There was the classic album of Barrington's greatest hits dubbed Broader Than Broadway, which is one of the best reggae collections ever created. This was released on the pioneering hip-hop label Profile, which helped Barrington to become more recognizable in the crossover market. After a stunning performance on the 1993 Sunsplash, Barrington was signed to MCA Records, but quickly parted ways with the label and began working with Jah Screw to make the Duets album, where Levy teamed with all the hottest DJs from Beenie Man to Lady Saw.
He came back larger than life with Bounti Killer on the song "Living Dangerously" - undisputedly the biggest reggae song of 1996, both in Jamaica and the United States, and for months held the #1 spot on the dancehall charts worldwide. Barrington was lifted to the top of the charts, his career in full swing again, and continues to remain at the top of playlists on every radio station in Jamaica, and dancehalls throughout the world.

Toot, Lonely Lover, or simply Cool Ruler is just some of the nick names of one of reggae music’s biggest international singers of all times. Gregory started out as an electrician and cabinet maker. His career in music remained his ambition. He was inspired by singers such as Sam Cooke, Percy Sledge, Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis and Ken Boothe. Gregory began his recording career in the late sixties. Gregory went on to record for Prince Buster entitled "Dancing Floor". Still not content he decided to start his own label and that was the beginning of the legendary African Museum record label. In 1975 he sold over 42,000 copies of the album "In Person". Gregory continued to record for a number of producers as well as maintaining his own African Museum label. He produced Mr. Isaacs in 1976-77 and "Extra Classic" in 1977.
"When people hear the name Gregory Isaacs, I want dem to think of 'Night Nurse' and 'Red Rose for Gregory' and 'The Cool Ruler,'. I love it when somebody comes up to me and say "I love your songs" I feel good about it seen, only love can conquer war and it's good for people to make love hahaa."
